Brooke is only one month away from her first birthday! Most of her tenth month was spent in Alaska visiting family, camping, eating new foods, and exploring. She hardly crawls anymore. She doesn't know how to stand up without a wall, so she crawls to the nearest wall or surface so she can get up and walk. Depending on her mood she can be very steady or very wobbly. She has a bruise under one elbow and has had many bumps and bruises on her forehead from accidents.
She has learned how to communicate to get what she wants. When someone is on the computer, she walks over to them, starts dancing, and sings "ha, ha, ha". Her favorite songs are the Hot Dog Song from Mickey Mouse Playhouse, The Gummy Bear Song and Baby Einstein's Baby McDonald (part 2). Brooke loves to dance. She dances to anything... an electric screwdriver, a bird cawing, a poem, but especially kids music. A day after we arrived in Alaska, Grandma Carol taught Brooke how to play the recorder.
She is INDEPENDENT and a busy girl. She walks around constantly exploring. At almost 19 lbs she is small for an 11 month old but makes up for her small stature with so much personality! She is starting to point at things, signs "more" and "all done", and makes sounds for dogs ("woo, woo"), cows ("mmmmmu"), and bears ("ggrrr"). She loves halibut, salmon and smoked blackcod! Her other favorite foods are watermelon, peas, bread, and strawberries.
Well, we're getting on the morning plane headed home. In twelve hours we will be home in our own beds!
