Meeting Grandparents

Monday night (8/18/08) at the Wenatchee Airport.

Leavenworth Fish Hatchery Walk

The morning after Grandpa John and Grandma Carol (Annie's parents) arrived we drove up to Leavenworth to visit the fish hatchery. We looked at all the fish in the pens, fed the trout and saw workers taking the eggs from the adult Chinook salmon.

[above] This man was placing the fish in this sorting machine that was able to read if the salmon had a wire in it or not. If the fish had a wire it went on to the inspection [below] where they logged it's length, sex, and other characteristics.

We strolled around the various paths that weave in and out of the forested area.

We were very surprised to see a rattle snake hidden up in the grass. It sounded like a sprinkler system as it shook it's tail.

We tried every trick in the book to wake this sleepy angel... we hear that Great-Grandma Koke wants to see a photo of her beautiful blue eyes! We'll keep on trying! :)

Fun with the camera...

Yes it's true, this generation of babies are the most documented generation in history. I am trying to keep my photographing down to 50... well 20 photos a day. At least with digital photographs you can always keep the very best photos and not pay a dime for all the bad ones. Here are a few from today!

Day 5

This is a short video we made of Brooke's first days of life. We wanted Annie's parents in Alaska to see a little live footage to add to their bundles of photos. We are so excited to have them fly down to Cashmere on Monday to join us for 10 days.

Thanks Etta!

As in the video and the above photo, we were so lucky to have a wonderful gift from Etta Grace Wicks. Both Etta and Brooke are small little girls and need preemie clothes to fit their trim figures! We know her parents from college and look forward to meeting Etta soon. She is only a few months older than Brooke so I bet they are going to be good friends some day! :)

Today I tried out the sling and found it to be a comfortable way to carry her around. We went on a nice walk in Leavenworth this morning and she was very comfortable in her little cocoon.

Day 3

Today we had our first walk at the park with Brooke in her stroller. She was very quiet and enjoyed the bouncy ride. Brooke is a very easy baby to have, not a lot of crying and fussing. She is easily calmed and loves to sleep!
