Potty Humor

I knew I shouldn't have laughed... or maybe it's okay at this stage, I don't know.  We were gathered on the floor playing with Brooke's tea set when I mentioned I smelled her poopy diaper.  Standing there she started giggling.  I could tell she was formulating something funny in her mind and was about to share.  She came out with her "best" joke yet, "Poo-poo had a birthday party!"  She laughed and laughed. 

New Cousin!

Caitlin and I headed over to Seattle on the day that our cousin Adam and his wife Kaili had their baby.  Baby Parker Lee Swanson joined the family at 5:04pm on the 18th and was 6 lbs. 11oz.  We stayed the night at our Aunt and Uncle's house the night before we headed to Swedish to see our family and the newest addition.

Brooke helped carry the presents to baby Parker.  She was happy until she saw everyone and then became super shy and in tears.  She finally warmed up a bit to Lauren and had a few good conversations with her.

Oliver had no problem meeting the family for the first time!  We were so glad Uncle Rob and Auntie Terri got a chance to meet Oliver.

We got to spend some time shopping at IKEA and the kids were great.  At the end they got a bit wild as you can see from the video below!

The kids love taking baths!

A few videos of Brooke.  The first part is her saying, "Thomas and Friends, making tracks to great destinations."  One day at lunch she was way more interested in singing than eating so I grabbed the camera and got to record her singing away.  I can see why she is so skinny!

Keeping Busy and Warm

The weather has been cold lately and we've had lots of opportunities to do indoor activities.  Lots of play dates with special friends like Lily.  Brooke and Lily are so sweet together.  Their newest "joke" is yelling, "GUMMY BEAR!"  Get it?!? Must be a two year old thing.

We got out of the house for a walk to the store (to get more cough drops).  The kids were all bundled up in the stroller wearing their wonderfully warm snowsuits.

With the rate that this little boy has been growing he won't fit in this 24 month snowsuit next year.  So we are going to use it for the rest of the winter.

This is what happened when we asked Brooke to stay warm while waiting for her bath.

Our two kids L O V E bath time.  Oliver crawls over to the bath and starts going crazy!  Once in the bath Brooke nicely plays with her tea set pouring water from one container into the other.  Oliver on the other hand literally climbs the walls.  He then lets go and falls back with a huge SPLASH.  Full supervision is required, especially when he continuously tackles his sister and swipes her toys!

As everyone already knows, there was a big Seahawks game. Oliver and Daddy watched the game.

Very serious business.

Oliver is expanding his diet.  His game day food could now include: Baby Mum Mum crackers, Cheerios and some graham crackers.  He loves them.  A little too much!

New Years Organizing and Tea Party

One of my New Years resolutions was to get more organized.  I started with Brooke and Oliver's toys.  Now there is a place for everything!  Brooke is excited every morning to pick out which bucket she will play with.  Yesterday it was the animals/Little People and today it was the tea set.

Once we are done playing with it, we pack it up and move on to other toys.  So far this method is keeping our house so much more clean and the kids are enjoying the toys so much more!

Getting Better!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was Kent's birthday and our anniversary.  The kids and I baked his favorite chocolate cake, blew up balloons and decorated the house!

My New Ride!

Kent and I loved our Toyota Matrix.  When we traded in my Subaru Legacy for the little zippy white car gas prices were going through the roof and we were all talking about getting the best gas mileage.  I was pregnant and we had no idea what it would be like in a few years with two huge car seats!  For the last month we researched three row cars for many hours and finally narrowed it down to three vehicles to test drive: Ford Flex, GMC Acadia and the Honda Pilot.  After a few test drives we decided that the Pilot was the most comfortable car that also fit our budget.

We said goodbye to our little car and drove home in this nice one!  It even came with birthday cake! :)

and a DVD player!  Sweet!  By the way, I think Caitlin and I counted ten Honda Pilots, Ridgelines or CR-V's in the Swanson family... I guess we had to join in on the trend.

Oliver's Baptism

On Sunday after Christmas we had Oliver baptised.  He was one active but behaved child!  The baptismal gown that he wore was made by my Great Grandmother Ann and is 65 years old.  Everyone in the Swanson family starting with my Uncle Rob has been baptised in this gown!

Brooke was a very good girl up in front of the congregation.  We are lucky to have Caitlin as our sponsor for our two kids.  She loves her niece and nephew so much and is their only Auntie!
