Icicle Gorge

Sunday afternoon we took a walk around the Icicle Gorge Loop Trail (past Leavenworth). We enjoyed the fall colors, the dampness of the air and the chance to get our bodies moving again. There was quite a bit of water in Icicle Creek from all the rain we have had in the last week.

U of Idaho Homecoming Weekend

Friday night we drove over to Idaho for the University of Idaho homecoming and Vandal Alumni Band. We stayed Friday night at the only available hotel in Lewiston, about 45 minutes south of Moscow.

Saturday morning we drove up to Moscow. It was a beautiful drive up through the fog filled rolling hills.

Caitlin, Annie and Kent all were a part of the Alumni Band. We had enough people this year to have our own parade entry in the homecoming parade through downtown Moscow.

It was also Idaho band day, so elementary-high school bands all participated in the parade and a short halftime show.

Idaho did not win their game v.s. Fresno State, but it was a good game. We stayed until the end of the game and then drove the 4 hours home with a short break in Moses Lake. Overall, it was a very fun weekend.

Moscow, Idaho is so beautiful in the fall!

Icicle Creek bike ride

Today we drove out the Icicle Road by Leavenworth and went on a bike ride with Cassy. The mountains in view are already snowcapped from last week's storms.

Scenes from Cashmere

On Annie's walk with Cassy last night she took these photos of Cashmere in the fall.

Sunday Drive

Enjoying the fall colors on a drive out to Lake Wenatchee and Steven's Pass on Sunday afternoon.

We found this HUGE tree on the side of the Rainy Creek Road.

Autumn Leaf Festival

Annie's Band Booster organization had a chili dog booth set up downtown on Saturday. Students and parents were working all day long.

Annie's band marching in the Autumn Leaf Parade.

It's a beautiful place to have a parade!

Two of the band members were part of the homecoming royalty, so other band members joined in at the end of the parade.

Kent's Award Celebration

Kent visiting with friends at the "Friend of a Young Child" award celebration. It was a great time to visit with friends and make new ones. As we had dinner, a bluegrass band performed for us.

Iron Goat Trail

Three weeks ago we drove up Steven's Pass to the Iron Goat Trail. The weather was a little damp, but comfortable for a bike ride. The whole trail was 14 miles, but the last 4 miles are all downhill on the old highway. Caitlin came along with us and really enjoyed the trip.

The leaves are just starting to fall!

At the base of the highway there is the opening from the 8 mile tunnel through the Cascade Mountains.

Teaching Award

Kent was surprised during guitar class this morning when he was presented the "Friend of the Young Child" award! He was nominated by someone in the community and there will be a banquet celebrating it on September 24th.
We haven't been posting anything lately because we have been really busy with the start of the school year. Annie is on her second week and Kent started this week. We have been busy until 9pm almost daily with meetings, rehearsals, and school work.
Today is Friday which means Annie has a football game in Peshastin and Kent is at a 5th grade instrument rental night. Tomorrow Annie is performing with the Icicle Brass Quintet from Leavenworth for a wedding. We are both looking forward to getting some sleep tonight!

Silver Falls

Kent's parents Bing and Britta are staying with us this weekend. We drove up the road by Entiat to Silver Falls and hiked up to the top of the falls.

Along the way we saw this hornet's nest hanging in a tree.
