I had to get Brooke into this little sailor outfit this morning, just for the fun of it.

Mud Puddles

This winter has not been your average Central Washington winter. El Nino has really made it's mark, we've had lots of rain and clouds in the sky. Brooke discovered mud puddles on one of our trips to Leavenworth. After watching Auntie Caitlin stomp in the puddles, she joined in on the fun.

Brooke loves to perform for the camera!

She's getting better at singing... at least the pitches! Notice the excited sounds she makes when she wants something. Kent bought her a Dora the Explorer singing DVD for Christmas and she loved it from the very first time she watched it. Now she is clued into Dora's face in the stores and asks to watch "Duh" (Dora).

I've had so much fun learning about knitting this last year. Brooke loves hats which makes it that much better. She is almost always wearing some kind of hat, even inside!

Right before I snapped this shot I asked Brooke where the airplanes are. She has a new found love for them! It will be fun to see what she thinks of them when we travel to Southern California in a few days! She points to the sky and says "air pane!"

24 Weeks

Wow, what a different pregnancy! There are so many huge differences between my first and second pregnancy. Brooke was always very small, ranging from the 5th to the 15th percentile. Baby boy is about the 65% percentile! I was working at school last time and now I'm "working" at home. It was spring and summer during the majority of my first pregnancy, and I'm dealing with the cold/wet winter this time. Looking back on photos, at 24 weeks (25 on Saturday) now I look like I did around the 27th week last time. This time around I have sciatica which causes shooting pain in the backs of my legs and lower back. Not too much fun! One wonderful change is the fact that I'm calm, peaceful, and without stress during this pregnancy. What a difference that can make!

Update

There were a lot of scraps of yarn left over from the many projects I have made this winter. I found this funky pattern in one of my books and decided to try it. With some warm fleece added inside it's a pretty cute creation!

I'll try and get some better photos of it tomorrow.

Hahaha, Kent will just LOVE me for putting this one on the internet. Kent is in the final three days of directing the orchestra for Footloose. Every night the pit has a theme. Tonight was obviously angel night...

Auntie Caitlin was having Brooke withdrawals because she has been working so much lately. She helped me out by giving Brooke a bath tonight.

Brooke was engaged in some really heavy reading!

At Work

Brooke gets to visit the school quite often and she loves it. Lately, it's been about the only time she gets to see her daddy. She knows where to find the mallets and loves to play the drums and keyboard instruments. She navigates the stairs pretty well now too.

"Hi!" Brooke is getting to know Kent's helper Idalee pretty well!

The best part about the high school is the ramp up to the stage!

Back at home, we sometimes have a clingy girl after her nap. It usually happens right about the time that I should be making dinner... so tonight, this was our solution! (Baby in front and on back!)

Dinner tonight was a wonderful dish of chicken and biscuits. I was even smart enough to use my Christmas present of a food processor to chop up all the veggies and shred the cheese. I made a double batch and froze the chicken mixture for another time in the future!

It's Cold Season Again...

When you have a cold, it's always good to have a box of Kleenex nearby. Here are the steps to take care of that runny nose.

Step one: Take two handfuls of tissue out and blow your nose!

Step two: Hand the tissue to your friend, because they probably have a cold too!

Step three: Wipe the floor.

Step four: Return the tissue to the box.

Walk in the Park

Today we went on a nice easy walk along the Wenatchee riverfront. We've had such "warm" weather lately, it's so nice!

Auntie Caitlin helped me out by carrying Brooke. I'm not doing as much of that these days!

This sweater was knit by Brooke's Great-Grandmother for me when I was her size. She gets so many compliments on it, isn't it incredible how nice clothes lasts forever!

Lazy Day

Brooke woke up with a runny nose and it's Tuesday. Sounds like a good excuse to stay inside. Most days we get out for a little adventure in the morning before Brooke's nap (a walk, trip to the library, shopping, etc.). Today we kept that to visiting her Daddy at the school and getting him started on his paperwork to take time off when baby #2 arrives. Looks like he can take two weeks off! So today we had breakfast, took a bath, read books, colored thank you cards for the Grandparents (you'll be getting them in the mail), took the cushions off the couch for climbing and watching cars, organized clothing, and had snacks. All this in the five hours before her nap. Oh yes, when I was pretending to take a nap on the couch cushions she tore a handful of hair out of my head. That was not pleasant. That has been our day so far. This afternoon I have two horn lessons to teach and we're hoping for Kent to be home around 6pm. It's been a good day!
