My parents, Caitlin, Brooke and I spent the night in Seattle before heading south to Mexico. Brooke slept all the way over the mountain passes in the car, so she had a lot of energy at the hotel. I probably got 2 hours of sleep before waking up at 3am to head to the airport. With passports in hand we arrived at the airport to find that they were incredibly unorganized at the Delta ticketing. We checked our watches and our plane was boarding and we hadn't even check our bags yet! Once through the bag inspection we pushed the stroller and ran to the gate (which had to be the furthest away). Brooke did really well on the plane. The first ride was 1 1/2 hours and the second was almost four. One man told us she was the best behaved baby they have ever seen on a plane. Phew!
Arriving at the Puerto Vallarta Airport was quite the culture-shock when arriving in the large waiting room with so much yelling and activity. Taxi drivers are very aggressive to get your business. We found one that was determined to fit us all into his small honda civic sized car. With the bags in the back I stood outside the vehicle and started strapping Brooke into the seat (I had to search high and low for the seatbelts) and the taxi driver started moving! Everyone YELLED and he stopped before running over my toes. I climbed into the cab; Mom had to sit on my lap! Dad was in the front of the cab with the stroller lodged between him and the driver.
After a 20 minute white-knuckle taxi ride it was so refreshing to find this beautiful house we had rented. The second level was ours and the bottom level was shared by my grandparents and aunt/uncle and kids.
Go to the beach and you'll be sure to find some Swansons! There are around 90 people headed to Mexico for the wedding and most of the Swanson family and close friends are staying in the Los Delfines complex here. You can't go anywhere without running into them!
